Since women have the right to choose not to be a parent, and women and men are equal in every way, I do not believe that men should be forced to pay child support.

Women have the right to choice. So do men.

========== In Reply To ========== These 2 things have nothing to do with each other. If a woman has an abortion, she is making a choice for her own body. Child support is for children that are actually separate beings. It is not just men that pay child support...whoever does not have custody of the children has to pay child support. Which means women do pay child support too.

Well, since you agree that if you recieve the priviledges of an adult, you must have their responsibilities, I'll support you.

Since you agree that you should be required to sign up for the draft, pay all taxes, and not to require parents to protect and support you, I'll agree with your cause. No more tried as minor, either. You're adults now, so you can be fried at the electric chair for murder, sentenced to life in prison (which many say that life in prison is a more gruesome death penalty).

I would be happy though, if the youth-rights advocates wildly portray the fact that they do agree with civil responsibilites to youth more.

At this thread, I had to ask you this; it is my opinion, that you should brandish that fact. Say to the world that you want more responsibility as well as more priviledges.

And, you're totally correct--rights are given to every human being--and they are unalienable. This is why everyone is allowed to own a gun (which I believe youth should be able to, also)--the right to live can not be denied, even to an infant.

========== In Reply To ========== Good, Justin. Of course I am in favor of civil responsibility for youth: it is a matter of dignity, empowerment, and honesty. Young people should be treated no differently from other citizens.

But this does not mean responsibility comes before rights. I often hear people say that young people must earn their rights. This is wrong. Legally at least, no other group is expected to prove itself in any way to enjoy the fruits of liberty. In fact, it is a contradiction to the meaning of the word. A civil right is granted automatically at birth and cannot be lost, even when one is wrongly denied their right, and no test can be put to it. It is universal and innate, granted equally to every man, woman, and yes, child.

If one must "earn" a right, then one has not really earned a liberty, but rather an élitist privilege.

I would be good to see you active in the fledgling youth rights movement. I would suggest you look into the National Youth Rights Association (NYRA) and Americans For A Society Free From Age Restrictions (ASFAR.)

----What exactly is abortion taking the choice from? A fetus who can’t even think for itself yet.----

So, let me get this straight: If someone can't think, they don't have the right to decide if they should live? So, I can decide to kill my retarded cousin, who "lives off something else" (this case being society), and it be perfectly legal?

----It can’t do anything else for itself , why should it be allowed to make this choice for itself?----

Actually, your question should have been, "Why should anyone be allowed to make that choice other than the fetus?" Since it can't do anything, that means it should be its right to if it wants to die.

Actually, it's not the mother's body that abortion considers. It's not the mother's body, it's not the mother's life.

It's the fetus' body, and the fetus' life.

If pro-abortion people are so Pro-Choice, then why do they support the killing of an organism that can't decide for itself? ========== In Reply To ========== Personally, they are not the basis of my life. I prefer not to dwell on what could have happened or what may happen and concentrate more on what did. I could spend my whole life just listing the ‘what ifs’ in the last 24 hours. I see no point in that though. If I based my life around a mere phrase, my life would not become of much.

What exactly is abortion taking the choice from? A fetus who can’t even think for itself yet. It can’t support itself, it relys totally on its mother, for food, for a home, for life. It can’t do anything else for itself , why should it be allowed to make this choice for itself?

There is no such thing as an unhealthy food. As long as it gives you calories, it's healthy.

Smoking however only harms you and others.

========== In Reply To ========== You know the difference between smoking and unhealthy food, but I'll state it anyhow. YOUR smoke is a hazard to my HEALTH when i breathe your smoke. Eating unhealthy food in my presence does not adversly affect my health. The fact that I may be subsidizing your health care is a lot less immediate than being forced to breate your filthy smoke.

Furthermore, in the U.S., millions of dollars are spent to accomdoate the disabled. A person whose disability is asthma or emphysema has the same right to a smoke-free environment that a person in a wheelchair has to a barrier-free environment. Lastly, "unhealty" food is not unhealthy if you only have it once in a while. Smoking is inherently unhealthy in any quantity. Furthermore, nobody smokes "occasionally."

The moment the sperm fertilizes the egg, the fetus has 46 chromosomes, all with the Base chemicals of DNA (A, T, C, and G) alligned in the way of a human. That's scientific talk for it's human.

This is, however, debate on whether it's actually alive. The moment the fetus' heart starts its beating, then there's no more discussion--it's alive.

========== In Reply To ========== I am neither pro-life nor pro-choice, I am pro-circumstance. I don't believe that people should have abortions whenever they want ie.I don't believe it should be a form of birth control. But I do believe that they are okay if the life/health of the mother or baby is in danger or in cases of rape/incest then it is acceptable.
