They say that Mamma Mia "doesn't NEED" the Tony. Well, why not? Are the Tony's there to prop up mediocre so so plays/musicals to give them more legs at the box office? It should be an award for the musical that the people are out there seeing. Mamma Mia wins hands down in that category. It brings people out to have an evening of fun!
remember, without the audience Broadway would be nothing. Abba songs or not. So what? the Producers was a remake of a movie, Millie is too. What next? Apocalypse Now?
