Neither Captain Picard nor Captain Janeway had a worthwhile first officer. The writers tried to make each sexually appealing and failed miserably. Each subverts the captain's authority and when allowed to make a decision, they look like they might pee their pants because all they have done in life is stand up and strike a masculine position during a crisis situation. Chakotay does not deserve a fine and competent woman like Seven.

chakotay is amazing! i agree hes much better than riker, but hes i an extremely competent first officer! he stepps in when needed and he gives his opinion. granted he has disobeyed Janeway a few times, but hey nobodys perfect!

I do agree with you that he and seven should not be a couple. him and Janeway are the perfect couple!
