The Tonight Show

Jean Shephard, years ago, had the night shift on a New York radio and had to broadcast from the transmitter and was not allowed into the regular studio. He was fantabulous. He could do an hour on some nothing topic and you would want to hear the whole hour. The Greaseman tries to imitate him but fails. Jean had to write the show. No unseen writers. Now we have Leno and others that merely read what is written for him. Why are they paid so much? So we just got rid of George "Harvard" Bush Jr. who was always so wired that he could not read a teleprompter but still why do we pay so money and and attention to Leno?
