should kids be taught about gays in school

I am a 100% straight, married guy with 3 sons. Some of our best friends are gay and the two oldest (7 & 5 years old) know exactly what gay people are. What's the point in ignoring it ? Gay people first of all are 'people', just like everybody else. I don't care if they $%!@ each other or the exhaust pipe of their cars. That's private. And if two people love each other, who cares if they are a guy and a girl, two guys or two girls. They are people. And all those racist comments on lifestyle often come from people who are more gay than they want to admit.
