What was your first sleep away camp (summer camp) like?

We went camping every month in Scouts, but once a year we would spend a week at resident camp. I always had a lot of fun there, it's where I learned how to swim. I learned a lot of other things there too.

I started with cub camps but they were only for two nights while some of our scout camps were up to 7 nights and one I went on to another country we travelled for two days by train each way and had 10 nights in the tents

Two days on a train would be awesome all by itself it would almost be like a mini-camp going to the real camp! Did you sleep on the train?
