Should motorcycle riders wear helmets?

I would like to be able to decide for myself rather or not to wear my helmet...If they want me to sign a medical release for that right ..Then Damn it...show it to me and I'll sign it. As a vol Firefighter/EMT and a paid EMT..I have seen no evidence showing me that helmets save lives or lack of them takes lives. It's a big scam just like the damn seat belt law. I can't understand why, with the number of riders in this country, and the money we spend, why we don't have more political control. It seems that the gays have more pull then we do...nothing against their lifestyle, but whats wrong with this picture?
