Temperature Taking In Illness

Rectal temperature was the norm in France when I was young in the 80's and in the 90's. I had my temperature taken rectally until I was 11. And I am 100% sure that it would have been taken rectally during my teenage years if I had needed it.

Today, my temperature is usually taken in the armpit or on my forehead.

But I would prefer to have my temperature taken rectally. I really believe that it's the most accurate method.

My son (now 12 years old) had his temperature taken rectally a few times at the hospital when he was younger. Once when he was 8-9 the nurse asked me to take his temperature.
