Does getting grounded really teach you anything?

I hated grounding more than any other punishment. However, it taught me that my parents dsapproved of my behavior (whatever it was I did that got me into trouble.) More importantly, it reenforced that there are consequences to our actions and that they aren't always pleasant.

That's an important lesson I'm taking with me when I go to college in the Fall.

Yeah, I really hate being grounded. Of course, I already know what my parents disapprove of without having to find out for myself.
