Use of Jockstraps in America

In places like New Guinea the natives take gourds and cut them in half. Then they tie em on so it becomes a cup. Then they do all kinds of stuff for the tourist wearing just the gourd. Just thought you would like to know who invented the cup and that in certain cultures one is allowed to things that many of us would like to do here.
