Sleep wear for summer camp

My 14-year old son gets to go to summer camp for the first time. It will be here in the Southeast. The suggested packing list is: 1 t-shirt per weekday, plus one extra; 4 pairs shorts, minimum; 2 pairs pants; Underwear; Swimsuit; Windbreaker/sweater/sweatshirt; Sleepwear; and Poncho/rain suit/rain hat. We are arguing on the nature of proper sleepwear. At home, his mother insists on pjs, but he insists there is no way pjs are appropriate for camp. For those of you with camp experience, what is the most appropriate sleepwear for a 14 year old boy at camp?
Boys at summer camp will most likely use the following bottom-wear:
pj pants
sleeping pants
boxer shorts
other type of underwear
nothing
The most likely top wear for them will be:
pj top
T-shirt
sleeveless shirt
tank top
nothing
Even at home, he wants to sleep with just boxer shorts. In general, a 14 year old boy
is still too young to sleep shirtless
is at the right age to start sleeping shirtless
should aready have been allowed to sleep shirtless
