How old is the Grand Canyon?

I recently read an article about an excursion leader who gave people tours of the Grand Canyon. He used to describe how the Colorado had carved the magnificent spectacle over tens of millions of years. However, on becoming a Born-Again Christian, he now believes that the Grand Canyon is only 4,500 years old, and was created by the Biblical Flood described in the Book of Genesis.
So, which do you believe? More importantly, since the Holy Bible does not give a date for the creation of the Earth, is it perfectly OK for Christians to believe that the Earth, and indeed the universe, is billions of years old? Give your opinions here.
1. For Christians only. How old is the Grand Canyon in the USA?
It is tens of millions of years old, carved by the slow, patient action of the Colorado
It is only around 5,000 years old, created by the Biblical Flood described in Genesis
I'm not sure
2. For non-Christians only. How old is the Grand Canyon in the USA?
It is tens of millions of years old, carved by the slow, patient action of the Colorado
It is only around 5,000 years old, created by the Biblical Flood described in Genesis
I'm not sure
3. Almost all of you will know the first one and a half verses of the Holy Bible, but I will quote them anyway. 1. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2. And the earth was without form, and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. (NKJV) Question. Could this Scripture represent billions of years of time?
Yes, definitely
Yes, possibly
Hmm...I'm not sure
No, probably not
No, definitely not
4. So, is it perfectly OK for Christians to believe that the earth is billions of years old?
Yes, and there has been life on earth for billions of years. Genesis is non-literal.
Yes, the Bible does not give a creation date, but God only created life a few thousand years ago
No, you can't figure more than a few thousand years between Adam and our present time
No, for other reason. (Pls post on message board)
I don't know
5. Thank you for taking this poll, and God bless you.
Pleasure. It was an interesting poll.
This is another silly poll. Can't you find something better to do?
