Accused of being gay?

I'm a straight shy male who has recently been going out and have had people think that I'm gay as well as been hit on by some gay guys. I don't have any 'gay manurisms' and my voice isn't feminine. So I'm trying to get to the bottom of why I people might think I'm gay.

a guy that 'looks gay,' just isn't hot to me
the guy was hot but i just didn't know if he was gay or straight
if i questioned his sexuality and he approached me i would like it finally knowing that he actually is interested and straight
if the guy seems gay and doesn't approach me i just assume he's gay
i would never approach a guy that looked gay, but i would like it if he approached me

Could you please post as to what it is exactly that strikes people as being gay? or anything else related to the topic of trying to guess if someone is straight or not. if you post you're really doing me a big favor, because i'm trying ot change anything possible that may be causing people to think i'm gay, like i said i'm also shy, so many that adds on to it?
