Who really built the great pyramids?

Modern engineers marvel at the pyramids. Even with all of our modern technology we cannot rebuild one today. This causes some people to wonder if the ancient egyptians or any other ancient culture could have really built them. The belief that they were actually built by extraterrestrials that once visited earth is seen is some science fiction, such as the 1994 film Stargate.
