I read an article the other day that surprised me and got me thinking. The article was from a medical magazine, and it suggested that males should have a complete physical - including testicular and prostate exams - annually at the latest starting at 25. The article pointed to testicular cancer as the leading cancer related cause of death for men in their 20's and 30's. It also discussed the increasing number of cases involving prostate cancer or prostate related diseases of men in their 20's and 30's. All of this was a huge surprise to me. I'm a 21 year old male, and I thought I wouldn't have to worry about this type of thing for a long time. I mean, should I rush to my doctor and insist that I have a full physical with these exams included every six months or something. That is certainly not a pleasent thought. The last full physical I had was in high school when I was playing sports, and I definitely don't recall enjoying the turn and cough test. Anyway, I'd like to know if this surprises anyone else and what your practice is.
