The aim of this poll is two fold. Firstly I want to see whether people think it is appropriate to smack a naughty childs leg or bottom in public. Secondly I want to see if a theory put forward in a research project from the 60's & 70's still holds true. Some terms explained for this survey: Smack/ing - can read as spank if you prefer, not necessarily a full over the lap punishment. May be read as one swat. Administered only with the hand. Bottom - child's rear end covered with underwear and skirt or trousers. Bare bottom - skirt/trousers AND underwear removed or lowered. I know times have changed since the 70's but for the purpose of this survey please assume that boys are wearing shorts and girls are wearing skirts so that smacks to the legs are administered to bare skin in both cases. Please also assume that the child is not taken somewhere private for punishment. Thank you for completing my survey.
