Speedos or Board Shorts?

I have always worn board shorts every where in general, but I recently joined swim team for my freshman year. (Grade 9 age 14) Obviously, we are required to wear a speedo. Ever since my "first" encounter with the speedo, I just felt they were more convenient, despite the fact that they have a bad reputation in the United States. So, what are your opinions?
