About Conservation / small talk

Your spouse or a good friend talks about topic with you which you are not interested in or you don't care about it. What do you do?

I'll listen to him or her and ask questions, because he or she is important to me.

I pretend to listen, but actually I just wait till he or she stops

I tell him or her I am busy with something else

I'll listen to her or him for some time and then try to change the topic

I tell him or her I don't care about the topic and it's boring to me so I won't listen

Why do you participate in small talk?

To kill the time

To socialize with friends, people etc

Because of the interesting topic

What do you expect from best friends, your spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend when you talk with them about a topic even it might be a topic they are not interested in?

That they listen to me sincerely and ask questions when necessary no matter if it's their favorite topic or a topic I am interested in, but not them.

That they listen to me in case they are interested the topic otherwise it's normal and ok that they change the topic or tell me that they are not interested in it immediately

That they listen for sometime to me and then change the topic in case they not interested in it
