Which shoes are best for weedwhacking?

Our school program includes us taking care of the grounds, and part of that is using a weedwhacker to kill weeds that try to take over. We have a lot of weeds this spring so I'm going to be doing it a ton, plus we have to show the 7th graders how to weedwhack, and the shoes I had are done, so I need to get a pair that will be used for the weeds. I'd love to be able to weedwhack in socks or barefeet but I don't want to risk my feet to being cut up, but the string is thin enough so running shoes are enough, which is the next best thing, and I've used them before. Even though they're going to be green from grass stains and dirty, I still want a pair that looks really nice, I'm going to be wearing them with really wider leg pants kind of like flare jeans girls wear, just my toes show. I've got it narrowed down to three pairs. One is the Asics Gel Nimbus, I love the way they look, they're covered in mesh and the toes are flat and wide with an aggressive tread, so if my feet need to get personal with the weeds they can. They also look like they have pretty good support for the arch which will keep me comfy. The other is a pair of New Balance, they look way meaner than the Nimbus, and my last pair of shoes I weedwhacked in were New Balance and they were wonderful. I love how the front looks, there's not as much mesh but there's still a lot and there's more support for your feet. The last is a pair of Saucony's that I'm really leaned towards. They're meant to be like barefoot shoes, so the mesh and shoe is so thin it's very close to just having socks on. They still have laces and some support, and the toes are wider like the Nimbus. The string would probably hurt, especially when I have to whip the bigger weeds, but it wouldn't cause any permanent damage and might be worth it for the extra flexibility, comfort, and control.
