Hello. I (as you can probably tell from my username) have Asperger's Syndrome, a high functioning form of Autism. I created this poll because I am interested to know your opinions about Autism Spectrum "Disorders". Please answer as fully as you can. :)

What do you think Autism is?

A horrible, tragic disease that causes people to be mentally retarded and incapable of emotion.

A neurological gift that causes one to be a genius.

A horrible disease that causes incessant screaming.

A neurological difference with varying degrees of severity. Autism has good and bad effects.

No "cure" for Autism has been found, and in all likelihood, one never will be. If, hypothetically, a "cure" was found, do you think that individuals on the spectrum should be cured?

A. Yes, but only if they want to be.

B. Yes, but only the low-functioning ones.

C. Yes, but only the high-functioning ones.

D. Yes, they should all be cured, regardless of their preferences.

E. No, they wouldn't be the same person if they were "cured". It's a form of murder.
