The term "paranormal" is often misused to specifically mean the supernatural. The term "metaphysical" is often misused to mean the paranormal in general or the supernatural specifically, but is a branch of philosophy, and has not nothing to do with the supernatural; part of it does deal with theological questions, but these are not of the esoteric (paranormal) realm. And "occult" is often misused to specifically mean the black arts or something similar.
