MOVIE CRITICISM: ONE

I find that "thumbs up -- thumbs down" from an unidentified source is all the information I need to form an intelligent decision about which movie to see.

I always read the same critic, because I always agree with that critic's opinion.

I read a lot of different critic's opinions, and go with the consensus.

The Quality of Movie Criticism! In these days of digital movie criticism, anybody with a thumb can -- and does -- become a critic; regardless of their understanding or competence. I know someone personally who watches a great amount of movies. When that person recommends a movie I go to see it, otherwise I do not.

I follow the work of certain directors. When they release a new movie, I go to see it. If I am not familiar with the director, I don't.

I judge a movie by the amount of promotion and other media attention a movie attracts. I feel that if a movie is no good, I can tell that by who is involved in promoting the movie, and how.

I wait for a while and check the box office. If a movie is not making money, it probably is no good.
