Is it strange for a guy to take off his shoes at a wedding?

Im 14 years old and male.Im 5ft,8 in with light brown hair and blue eyes.Im not a big guy,but Im good-looking and well built. In a few weeks Im going to be attending a wedding with my Mom for my Moms best friend at her job.Ive already tried on the brand-new dress shoes Im going to wear;they hurt my feet even after a few minutes.Im NOT wearing sneakers to a formal occasion,so Im expecting that my feet are going to be killing me.My Mom tells me that when the reception comes around,it will be perfectly o.k for me to take off my shoes.Frankly,Im not sure thats a good idea.I plan on wearing black socks;theres nothing at all "wrong"with my feet. And Im perfectly aware that women are in the habit of taking off their high heeled shoes at wedding receptions. However,I just cant help thinking that people are going to find it strange if a guy does the same thing, and I dont want to be stared at or made fun of.Ive taken my concerns to my Mom,and she tells me that Im being silly. Is she right,or is it strange for a guy to take off his shoes at a wedding?

Not all all-as long as the other guests are doing the same.
Yes,a little-but as long as the other guests are doing the same, you can get away with it.
Yes,very much so-it is something only females should do!
