Government Shut Down

The semi-government shutdown has thankfully ended at least for the time being. Seemingly this round went to the Democrats, but are there really any winners here? We are still stuck with Obamacare but now with emphasis on verifying salaries. One would think verifying salaries would have already been incorporated into the bill. But then this is our government . . . why would we think any rational or well thought out planning goes into anything it does. As for the Republicans, going after Obamacare was an exercise in futility. In time Obamacare will falter under the weight of its overly ambitious agenda. Sadly, the Republicans did nothing to improve their lot at the polls by squandering their time and attention on Obamacare instead of focusing only on the debt ceiling and our $17 trillion dollar debt. On the other hand, the Democrats attitude and name calling has revealed to us a degree of immaturity not befitting their government positions. By the way COMPROMISE according to the dictionary is: "a way of reaching agreement in which each person or group gives up something that was wanted in order to end an argument or dispute". For fifteen days we did not see this happen. Instead we witnessed the Senate and President refusing to sit down, roll up their sleeves and work this "thing" out AND watched the Republicans repeated efforts to "chisel" away at Obamacare. Tragically this has played out on the world arena and has done nothing to enhance our image across the globe. Shame on this administration for denying death benefits (supposely an oversight) to our Veterans and denying them access to the WWII Memorial built to honor their efforts. Despite the President's claims to the contrary, instead of lessons learned, we are doomed to repeat this fiasco again in 100 days.
