Until what age should girls wear overalls instead of jeans?

For the growing girls in our house, jeans are off limits until you are mature and old enough to wear them. Until then, I provide the children with comfortable overalls suitable for their size and age. In your opinion, at what age is a girl ready to choose and wear jeans instead of overalls?
