A friend of mine finally revealed why he never goes to any of his daughter's school functions. It turns out that when he was a teenager on his eighteenth birthday his girlfriend decided to celebrate by doing anything he wanted sexually. Problem was she was THREE DAYS younger than him. It didn't matter to the city that they had been dating for THREE YEARS without having sex, They had only ever dated each other, They first met at the age of four, And he treated he so well that her OVERPROTECTIVE FATHER was actually okay with it. All the city saw was an adult having sex with a minor. Now he is a registered sex offender. Barred from having contact with underage girls. To this day he cannot get his case appealed. F.Y.I. He is at the age of forty still married to his childhood friend he has 4 children with her. Three of which are girls. This has got me to wondering while I know like 90% of people would say he sould not be on the sex offender list. What do people consider to be an acceptable age difference?

How old is to old to be dating someone UNDER 18? To my way of thinking if someone is no more than 21 then the age/maturity of the less than 18 person should be taken into consideration. As well as the opinion of the parents. Cases like this are why guys used to ask the parent's permission to COURT their daughter.

The next question is for those who selected 15 or 16.
I personally think the ages of 15 and 16 are a grey area. While many understand that some grow up faster than others not many realize a hard life leads to growing up faster. So can having parents who set a good example for their children. This is why 100 years ago when life was brutal 14 was considered old enough.
What ages are acceptable for a sixteen year old to be dating? F.Y.I. in my high school roughly 1 in 3 seniors were FIFTH year seniors.

A hard life tends to leave one able to see dangers that those who had an easy life do not see. With this in mind what is an acceptable age limit for a 15 year old whose lived a hard life to date?

While a little unusual In high school I did know a few girls AND GUYS who were actively looking for a healthy emotionally mature relationship like the one their parents had. With this in mind what is the age limit for a 15 year old looking for this kind of relationship to date?

In summary I think that when a person turns 18 any age is acceptable. Because the whole 17/18 age difference is negligible a 17 year old should be allowed to date no older than 21. But a 16 year old should avoid anyone old enough to drink. As for fifteen avoid anyone old enough to drink and Unless the 15 year old is IMMATURE anyone still in their teens in okay plus 20 is okay with parental permission. But after high school any younger is NEVER okay. And of course parental/guardian opinion is EXTREMELY important.

What is dating? The parents pick their child's spouse and until the wedding night the opposite sex is off limits (I have heard this once or twice.)
