What should I wear while promoting my school?

I'm going to represent and promote my high school to people from elementary schools and I though that I will take just some shirt and jeans, but my class tells me to take white dress shirt, black dress pants, necktie, sweater and jacket. What do you think? I usually wear buttoned shirt tucked into jeans (cause this is my dress code).
