Title IX states: "No persone in the U.S. shall, on the basis of sex be excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under ANY educational program or activity receiving federal aid." In easy terms, that means that males and females should get equal opportunities and funding for school AND sports. therefore, if there is a boys basketball team, there must be a team for girls....
