Air Marshals on Canadian Commercial Planes

Since the September 11th attack, Canada has focused its attention to tightening on airport security, military, and border security. The government is trying to pass a legislation to take control of baggage screening at airports. Armed air marshals are now a part of the security budget. There will be armed agents on board planes with passengers. The federal government has increased airport fees due to extra government employees at the airports. Air passengers will now have to pay $24 per round-trip for tighter air security. Tighter security at airports will be inconvenient for travelers because of thorough screening of baggage and passengers. Another concern about air transportation is that armed officials will now be boarding the airlines with passengers. Armed security officers on a plane can be very dangerous. As we learned from the September 11th terrorists’ attacks, there were pilots with false identification cards who were trying to board planes according to U.S. authorities. This can happen again. Only this time, terrorists can be the armed officers.
