For years I have had an interest in the links between childhood discipline experiences and the development of sexuality, seeing this as the key to understanding sadomasochism. The lack of research into, and ignorance surrounding this subject is disturbing. This poll, I hope, shall help remedy this (a drop in the ocean, I know). Readers familiar with the subject may recognize that I have plagiarized the title of this poll from an essay by Tom Johnson (view at http://silcon.com/_ptave/sexdngr.htm) I have done this in tribute to his insightful work and because I cannot find more suitable words to express the dilemma.
