If you are a smoker, why did you start?
I was pressured into it by friends.
I was so stressed out, I needed to relax.
All I did was try it once, but I got hooked.
Everybody I know smokes, it wasn't a big deal.
All my friends smoke,I didn't want to be left out.
I saw an ad for it, and wanted to look cool too.
If you are a non-smoker, does it bother you when people around you smoke? Why?
It doesn't bother me at all. Why should it?.
I'm afraid for my health.
I'm afraid for my childrens' health
It just stinks
I don't want to half to dry-clean my clothes
It irritates my eyes/contacts allergies
It makes me sneez/it is hard to breathe
If you are a non-smoker, do you think that smoking should be
Totally acceptable anywhere-it's a smoker's right
Totally illegal- all it does is kill people
Allowed only in people's private homes
Allowed, but only outside
Are you aware that cigarette companies are the leading donators to political parties?
yes
no
I response to the last question, do you feel that
The companies are bribing our government
So what if they give money-lots of companies do.
It's all great-the tobacco industry employs me
As a smoker, it just helps to protect my rights
Do you know anywone who has died or is dying from smoking or related illnesses?
Yes, many people very close to me

If yes, what stopped you? Check all that apply.
I just couldn't handle stress without it.
The addiction was too strong
The patches/subtitues/treatments don't work
In my old "smoking places" it was a pattern
I became a screeming banshee!!!!

Do you think it is fair to level heavy luxury taxes on cigarettes, even if it is to pay for resulting medical issues?
NO-Smokers have a right to decently priced cigarettes
Yes but the taxes should stay small to be nice
Yes- Smokers shouldn't smoke anyway, cigarettes cost the nation huge medical bills!
Suppose there was a law created that would ban on smoking, but gradually over a wide period of time. This law might say somthing like "All people born after the year 1990 will never be able to smoke legally but anybody born after that date will still be able to smoke." That way, companies and their dependent economies and worker would have somewhere around 70 years to gradually turn to other areas of industry as the number of smokers became fewer and fewer Also, smoker's wouldn't have to go through trying to quit. As the presented date would have an age younger than 18, all children younger than that would know that they would never be able to legally smoke, which might be a strong deterrent to starting in the first place. What do you think of this idea?
Well, it might work, but Congress won't listen
Probably wouldn't work now, but maybe the future
Yes, It would be great! Start a petition!
