Wow, that's a pretty broad statement you're making.No doubt that a few people throughout history in every religion have used and subverted their faith for money, power, etc. But to just make such a sweeping judgement about religion and leave it at that is ignorant at best.

========== In Reply To ========== During high school I played sports and was physically active, although I did not "work out" per se. I have recently gotten into the habit of working out about 4 times a week, for about 5 months now. My college schedule usually works so that I have to work out during NON peak times. Still, when I shower alone in the locker room's communal shower, I often get an erection despite any lack of desire or stimulation or whatever. The few times that other guys have been in the college locker room I have also started to get erections and sublty but quickly changed or covered it. I am not gay and am not attracted to other men. I NEVER get erections in the shower at home unless I actually try, so I am at a loss for why it would occur in the gym. I was wondering if it is just still new to me, the whole working out routine, which would cause erections. I am especially worried because my best friend and I are starting to work out together and although he would probably not say anything about it, I do not want him to get a misconception of what is happening. Your thoughts, please.

By the way, I do not consider $%!@ing in the locker room in order to get rid of the erection an option. -------You said you played sports in high school-did this happen in the high school shower as well? There could be lots of completely non-sexual reasons why this happens. A lot of guys when they start working out become a lot more aware of their bodies. When you start seeing improvements in your build it's natural to be proud of your achievement and it's possible in a way that this becomes a turn-on. It has nothing to do with being gay or being attracted to other guys. Another question-do you get a full erection or just a semi-stiffy? I'm in college myself and workout 4 times a week too. I go in the mornings so the locker room/shower is always crowded. I've seen lots of guys with semis who are totally straight. It's really no big deal, no one pays much attention. I think if you don't dwell on it it won't happen any more. Don't worry about your friend. If you do get an erection in front of him, he knows you're straight. If it's an issue, why can't you say to him what you've just told us? Don't let this interfere with your workouts.Keep with it and your health will benefit plus the ladies will appreciate it. Let us know how this turns out.

I did not take this poll because I am not a parent yet but I would like to make a couple of comments. First, I am a Christian and I don't think there is anything immoral or wrong about group showers that are segregated by sex. I think it is wrong to automatically associate nudity with sex or immorality. There is a difference between nudity that is sexually explicit and is meant to be erotic and nudity that is for health/hygienic reasons after sports. I have been very active in school sports and group showers/nudity are commonplace. There is no immoral reason behind it.While I do think 4th grade is a little young to start gym showers(7th grade seems to be the norm) I think it's ridiculous to attribute this to some "Liberal" school administrator.School PE, locker rooms, and group showers have been pretty much standard for most of the past century. Where have you been? I agree with Digital_Cowboy that you cannot cater to evryone's beliefs. If your beliefs are so much outside American customs than I think you should enroll your kids in a private school that better reflects your beliefs.

If there is going to be a discussion between Muslims and Christians, it's important that both sides not misrepresent the others' beliefs. Christianity does NOT teach that there are three gods. Christianity believes there is one true and living God who took on human flesh (became incarnate) in the person of Jesus Christ and who is active and alive in the hearts of believers. This is the Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one God, immortal, uncreated, all-loving and all-powerful. I'm not a theologian and I'm sure there are others who can explain it much better than I can, but one way of looking at the Trinity is to compare it to H20. At room temperature, H2O is water. It's characteristics are that it is liquid, it is wet, and it can be drunk. At the freezing point, H2O is ice. It's characteristics are that it is solid, it is cold, and it can be eaten. At the boiling point, H2O is steam. Its' characteristics are that it is gaseous, it is hot,it can power an engine. Water, ice, and steam are all different and have different characteristics yet they are all H2O, with the exact same chemical composition, the same substance. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit have different characteristics but are the same substance. It would be wrong for me to have a discussion with a Muslim by falsifying Islamic beliefs, it is also wrong for a Muslim to say Christians worship three gods. You can debate and argue about the reality or nature of the Trinity, but don't argue on the basis of a falsehood.

Who wants razor burn around their butt hole? Besides, unless you get your wife or girlfriend to do it, it would be kind of difficult, don't you think? I'm a hairy guy myself and I trim my ball sac, pubic hair and around my crotch. I wouldn't shave anything since I don't want to look like a boy who hasn't reached puberty yet.
