Whilst I believe that this is going to get widespread acceptance, given time, I wouldn't force any church or faith group to have to perform this, if it was not in keeping with their basic tenets. I'm all for a "live and let live" attitude to life, but, to force some people to act against their beliefs is just wrong, and smacks of Fascism. If some church did go in for this, all well and good, but let each decide for themselves, yeah? Personally speaking, as a Neo-Pagan, I've taken part in more than a few "handfastings" between both the gay and lesbian members of our circle, as well as the straight members as well. I believe that if you're willing to pledge yourself to another person out of love, it shouldn't matter whether you're two guys, two women or whatever. All that matters is that you love your partner, and that should be enough.

Amen to that! At last, someone here who ain't taken in by the "right-wing, proto fascist" sympathies/ideas of the more voluble posters who use this site to peddle their misguided ideas. Like I keep on saying, don't believe what people tell you, but make up your own minds!

Further to my last post here, look at what's happened in Africa, with those schoolgirls being kidnapped by Boko haram, just because they were being educated. Strikes me that religion can be misconstrued just to justify any view, no matter how backwards.
