Midwest guy, I do not think that there is much prejudice against homosexuality. In fact, many seem to reach out to homosexuality and accept their sexual preference as "normal." Movies and television are full of homosexual characters, most of whom are portrayed in a sympathetic manner. Yes, a homosexual can be dismissed from many jobs and has no recourse to appeal. Well, for that matter a person who displeases a supervisor for the most vain reason can be similarly given his walking papers. I would caution against including "sexual preference" in a civil rights law because sexual preferences are learned behavior, not inherent, as is race, national origin, creed, etc.

Theodore In Reply To ========== Unfortunately, the world does not yet understand much about sexual orientation. There is solid scientific evidence that those of us who are gay were born that way, and in my opinion there's no way we can "change", nor should we. There have been some advances for us in recent years. Unfortunately, the one source that keeps persecuting us, lying about us, and perpetuating old prejudices about us is religious fundamentalism. Hopefully, the day will come that hate crimes against us because of our sexual orientation will be punished as severely as hate crimes committed against people because they are black or Hispanic or female. And hopefully one day they won't be able to fire us for being gay.

Homosexuality learned

Here's why I believe that homosexuality is learned, rather than inborn: The Bible says that God wills that all repent of their evil ways and come to a saving knowledge of Him. If God "made" people homosexual, he would be condemning people to a future of ruin. In that it is "not the will of God for any to perish but for all to come to repentance," it would therefore be impossible for God to "make" a person homosexual. The Old Testament describes male-to-male sexual encounters as an "abomination" and NOT "of God." The New Testament warns that in the last days of time "even the women shall lust after each other." So how could homosexuality be ordained by God to certain individuals? Such a view seems to me to be incompatible to Scripture. However, I did not make the rules; I am interpreting what I believe Scripture teaches. God will ultimately judge all -- the righteous and the unrighteous. He allows the rain to fall on both the righteous and the unrighteous, Scripture teachers.

In our fast-paced society, being barefoot is at best inefficient. It can even be dangerous in certain situations. The only place I see barefoot people are in pools, locker rooms or people wearing flip-flop shoes. Flip-flog shoes can also cause stone bruises to the heel that take quite a while to heal. And these bruises won't heal unless one stops wearing the flip-flops. Being barefoot is also not comfortable if one leaves a clean carpeted floor.

Most don't pay much attention to fire alarms.

Most people don't take fire alarms very seriously. Nearly anyone would take the time to put on his underwear or outer shorts before coming out of a room because of a fire drill. I cannot imagine guys coming out naked just because of a fire drill unless they used the drill as an excuse to parade around in the nude! They must have come out barefooted too, which is not very smart unless they were convinced that there really was a fire. -- Theodore n Reply To ========== i live in a all male floor. both me and my roomate stay in our boxers when studying watching tv. we sleep naked, wear some clothes when cold. there was a fire alarm a month ago (someone was smoking under a smoke detector IDIOT!!) so all the guys were walking around naked, the girls sure did like it.

Mao Tse-tung drank his own urine.

This is a gross subject. I read that the late communist icon Mao Tse-tung drank his OWN urine as a health stimulant. I think I can do without Chairman Mao's stimualtion!

===== In Reply To ========== by the way, it's "have you ever drunk", not "drank"! and i don't think any of the times i did it was accidental! i thus didn't answer the "accident" question, which should have included the choice "it was never by accident".. i love drinking it (either my own or others') for many years and sometimes try to find new ways to enjoy it. i have opened a "mountain dew" bottle and discovered that it wasn't "dew". sometimes i sip it to see how old it is, and if it tastes fresh, go ahead and drink it anyway. i thus answered the "did you think it was" as "other"--i thought it was pi$$! i don't need a dare to do it! and thanks for the poll, have a nice day and if you like drinking it, more power to you--maybe we can share one sometime!
