Boys wearing shorts

I wore shorts all year round up to when i was aged 7. Summer, winter and when it is freezing. After that i was allowed to wear long trousers in the winter. When i was playing crawling around in the mud and climbing trees, trousers would get dirty and have holes ripped in them.

In England postmen wear shorts all year round. You see them even on the coldest winter morning with bear legs.

When I was at school fifty years ago all boys wore shorts all year round while at primary school and most did for the first year at secondary school. It was normal, what all boys did and we thought nothing of it. In freezing conditions we would be bundled up above the waist but below it was strictly shorts.
