Are vegans weird?

no, Vegans aren't weird... and they usually have really pretty eyes...

I'm lacto-ovo vegetarian, and I admire Vegans.

It's hard to be completely Vegan because I sold my car when the war started... and the store that is close has imported goods and a lot of 100% Organic food, (eggs and dairy), but no good organic selection of grains, lentils, or nuts-essential Vegan ingredients. They do carry rice and soy milk, though, so I have been able to stop drinking and cooking with Milk.

I am also horrified at the thought we are genetically engineering our food. (This was one of the reasons I started eating organic, and went vegetarian.) It is really hard to be a Vegan, (I do eat Vegan quite a bit) and since they constantly sacrifice, we are all able to live a better life. Most people don't realize their ecological footprint, and how much their diet affects the rest of the population of the planet. The methane alone from large cattle farms has been linked to global warming, and as hurricanes hit Florida and the Carribian Islands, I urge that some people re-consider their diet and it's impact.

As this type of awareness sets in with a person, they begin to make better choices in all aspects of their life, like taking their own bag to the store, and walking instead of driving. (I think in other countries it's called 'self-awareness', but here in America, it happens so rarely these people are made fun of). Others mock their selfless struggle, without the awareness of what they go through, and what it takes to realize they actually care about EVERYONE.

And if that isn't our goal-every person's well being and happiness-what ARE we doing? What are we working toward when we get up everyday, and go to work??

Being Vegan would be easier if more people would try it-because then more Falafel places would go in (THE best Fast Food in Holland is at the Falafel shops-their fries are REAL, not Genetically-Engineered nasty pesticide potatoes). Then we could all help each other, and still get our fast food craving out of the way... eating vegetables is cheaper than meat, it takes less money to grow veggies! And we wouldn't have to put up with the LOW quality garbage all the fast food chains here dish out. Those places are disgusting. Read 'Fast Food Nation' and find out for yourself.

Imagine a better world for everyone... then ask yourself what you can do in your daily life to make everything better.

That's all Vegans are doing!

You rule. I'm vegan myself and though I'm not sure that I have...er, "really pretty eyes", you've done a nice job of summing things up. I sympathize with you in regards to your lack of car, by the way. I have no car myself but fortunately live very close to a natural foods store. If not for that, I'd be in a lot of trouble, food-wise. But you do your best, that's what counts.
