Rescue hamster in house?

My 10 year old's hamster escaped and is in the inner workings of the house. I heard her scratching last night and 8 hours later hear her still. I say cut the drywall and rescue her. It will cost money but who cares. Other half says let her find her way back out. Problem is that it has been 36 hours and she has not found her way back. She is also at the same place she was last night and still scratching. Yes to rescue. No to have her find her way out.
