How do you view the idea of universal healthcare? Select the option that most closely matches your views.

44% (59) This would be a disastrous government takeover of our healthcare system. We would lose our choice of doctors, healthcare would be rationed, and people would have to be put on waiting lists before they receive healthcare. Government intervention will cause more harm than good. Privatization of health insurance will allow people to receive the best quality healthcare.
16% (22) Some reform is needed, but we do not need "socialized medicine." People should not be denied healthcare based on a pre-existing condition. The government should provide coverage for the poor and lower middle class while the upper middle class and the rich should have to buy their own private health insurance.
17% (23) Universal healthcare would be the lesser of two evils. Even many people who have insurance do not get the healthcare they need because their insurance companies may not cover that under their policies. People may be denied an insurance policy because of a pre-existing condition that would have little relevance any health problems they may develop. Universal healthcare would ensure that no one would be denied healthcare, even if they had to wait on waiting lists to receive non-emergency treatment and expensive surgeries.
21% (28) This is a great idea. Look how they have it in Canada and France. You should raise taxes on the rich and middle class to pay for a system of universal healthcare. Poor people should be provided all the services that rich people are povided. Many people are only one illness away from financial disaster. Some honest and hardworking people have even declared bankruptcy when they have come down with an illness. Even if it raises taxes, increases the deficit, and drastically grows the size of government, socialized medicine is the only solution.
