Are any other students still disciplined by their family?

When I was child and teenager I got spanked occasionally for not following major rules. I always knew the reason and accepted it. It hurt but never harmed me. One of the major rules in our family consists in always doing your best to become and be a responsible member of society, a rule I accept completely. The rule was: Tell us about your tasks, ask for help if you need some and do your best. If the result was not as expected, we talked about it and if they thought, I could have avoided it, I was spanked. So I knew: inadequately school work would mean a hurting buttom and burning fingers. This kind of discipline really helped me to manage motivational problems in my teenages. Starting my studies I moved out. My parents support me, especially by paying my tuiton fee. And that is why they still feel responsible to supervise my advantage. Because I live with my longtime boyfriend, they say, we should even share this part of my life. So my friend knows about it. Usually we are visiting my parents the last weekend per month and I have to tell them about my progress to be reviewed. Mostly I achive the target, but sometimes I need to be punished. Does it also happen to you? Are you a student which learning progress is strictly supervised or are you a parent doing so? What do you think about it?
