I don't think they need to be nude for the entire exam, but yes, they're private areas need to be checked out.

As a rule, NO ONE gets to see me naked except my doc. If my doc needs to check that part out, my parents have to GET OUT. But these days they're usually not in the room at all.
But hey, it's a matter of privacy and modesty! If you're not comfortable being totally naked in front of your parents, ask them to step out of the room while the doctor checks out your privates.

Does anyone here feel comfortable with your doctor examining your genitals without wearing gloves? I wouldn't be, and I'm surprised doctors are.

Oh, god! That's just crazy. I'd be like, "excuse me, only the doctor is allowed to see my ----- and ----------. I need some privacy, guys!"
Obviously they aren't nearly as modest as we are.
