Sometimes people lose their jobs through no fault of their own or have huge medical bills, and either don't have health insurance or are underinsured. This is when we need these social supports.

Sooner or later, Cheney and Rove will be found to have had significant roles in giving out classified information to someone not authorized, and will be found to have lied or covered up their role. It cannot happen soon enough, but unfortunately, they will be pardoned by Bush, with Libby being the fall guy, the sacrifice so the government can try to say, "See, we're not totally bad." The unsaid part is: "We watch out for our own butts, and are above the law." The rest of you Americans aren't. We're special, you're nobody."

Rights For The Disabled

I am very gratified to see that 89% of those responding felt there should be more laws to protect the rights of the disabled. Please be aware that while we do have the Americans With Disabilities Act,(ADA) it is treated with contempt in courts of law across the United States, and it is very close to impossible for a plaintiff to win an ADA case because there is a lot of open prejudice against people with disabilities in the American "Justice" system. Most of the time, an ADA case is thrown out of court even if the case has very strong merit, and the plaintiff has a strong preponderance of evidence to support their claims. This is because most judges think people with disabilities are second-class citizens and should be treated that way. If Hitler were alive, and he observed the way the US Justice system handled the cases of people with disabilities, he would have been very proud of all the judges that summarily throw out ADA cases just because the plaintiff has a disability, or was regarded as having a disability.

What should be done to corrupt politicians

Executing them should be ruled out much as some in the administration would like some to die so they can't make statements that could ruin some political careers or cause some corrupt politicians allowed to remain in power a lot of personal embarrassment, or open cases corrupt politicians wish to remain closed. Dead men may tell no lies, but they can't tell the truth about those whom they may want to smear in retaliation for their imprisonment.
