I always keep my nails about 1/2" past the end of my fingers, with a square tip. I paint them light, conservative colors during the week for work (usually a french manicure or a nice pearl or light pink color), but then dark and bold for the weekends (brick red, or deep purple, although I've even tried dark green, dark blue, and black, and I love the reaction they get!) For some reason changing the color helps me feel like the weekend can officially begin, and helps me unwind and be less inhibited.

I've never had a guy turn me down for a backrub or backscratch, and I definitely used that to my advantage in college! My current boyfriend absolutely loves my long nails. He always thought well-kept nails were nice, but I think I have "turned him on" to all of the benefits of long nails. At his request I've even had my nails much, much longer than normal on several occasions(he actually helps me put them on and polish them), but I can never wear them like that for very long, because I basically have to have him do everything for me while they are that long, or they will break. Still, it is a lot of fun to see people's reactions at movie theaters and restaurants and stuff when they see someone come in with 3" long dark red or dark green nails, but who looks like a normal girl in every other respect (I'm 5'6", strawberry blonde shoulder length hair, athletic, pretty thin). If I really want guys to stare I will wear some kind of heel, but usually I'm pretty down to earth. Besides, my bf doesn't exactly want me to show off for other guys.

I'm curious if there are other girls out there like me that always have long nails and just like to have fun with them? Guys, any experiences?

I recently got a pair of platform heels where the heel was 8" tall and the platform was 3". I had never worn anything higher than a 4" heel (no platform) before that. I have to tell you that I absolutely love them!! But they definitely took some getting used to. When I first put them on and tried to walk, it was so much harder than walking in 4" heels - I kept wobbling and had to catch myself so many times! It didn't take long to get used to, though, and after an hour or so of walking around the house in them, it felt like any other pair of shoes. I am kind of short, and so I really like the extra height they give me, and you cannot believe how many heads I turn when I go to clubs or bars in them! My boyfriend loves them, too! I mostly wear them with thigh-highs at home with my bf, or in bare feet at clubs and bars.

In my opinion, the most important thing a girl can do to get a guy to notice her is to smile at him.

To illustrate my point, I want to share a story about a girl I met at work. I think I vaguely knew who she was, but never really thought about her much until one day I caught her looking at me. Our eyes locked briefly, she gave me a flirtatious smile, and then quickly looked away. My stomach did somersaults and my heart started pounding so fast, just because of a little smile. A minute later I looked back over at her and saw her looking at me again, and she smiled again and held her gaze for a second or two longer than the first time. My heart kept pounding, and I was entranced. The first chance I got after that, I went over to talk to her and we quickly got together. That was years ago now, but I still can't forget that it all started with a simple smile.

I also want to say that the smile wasn't the only reason I was attracted to her, but it certainly got me to notice her when I never really had before. After the initial smile, I was attracted to her because she was really comfortable to be with, she had a good sense of humor, she was smart, she had a nice figure, she was well-groomed, had nice long wavy hair, beautiful eyes, nicely manicured nails, dressed well, obviously took good care of herself, etc. I can't say that I remember her breast size, or she had any outbreaks of acne, or if she ever wore anything that showed her bare tummy, or anything like that, but I definitely remember her smile.

As a counterpoint, at that same job there was a girl that I knew liked me, and who flirted with me a lot and did a lot of things to get my attention, like wear really high heels to work, or get really long fake nails and color them some funky color so she could show them off to me, or wear short skirts and dresses to show off her legs, etc. To be honest, she also had a really nice smile, and I did go out with her a couple of times, but it never went anywhere. Basically, if I were to compare the two girls, they both got my attention one way or another, but their personality was equally important once they did have my attention. I also remember the first girl being a lot more confident than the second girl.

Anyway, I've rambled enough. You get the idea. Start with a smile, back it up with confidence and a good personality, take care of your appearance but don't go overboard, and you'll snag your man. I hope I've helped.

That is great advice! I'm kind of proud that I found something he likes so much that he can't get it out of his head even after a year :) This year we'll bring a camera, though!

That brings me to my update, for whoever is interested. I have been wearing high heels for him a little more often, but just ones that I already had, which are mostly 4" tall at most. Not like on walks or whatever, but I wear them when we go to the movies and out to dinner and stuff, or just hanging around the house. He seems to like it a lot, but for me it feels weird to wear high heels in a movie theater, you know? One thing I haven't done is pull out my 6 1/2" heels from last Halloween, which I know he wants to see me in again. They just seem too tall to be wearing around town for no reason.

So, what I thought I'd do is either dress up as a "sexy witch" again for Halloween this year, which I know he'll like (and we'll have a camera this time!), or I can be Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz (my friend has a great pair of sparkly red platform shoes with a 6" heel that I can borrow), or I can go all out and be an exotic dancer or something. I found a great pair of 8 1/2" heels online, but they're kind of expensive and I'm worried that I couldn't pull off the exotic dancer thing (like I'll fall flat on my face or something). However, I know my boyfriend would just be floored if I wore heels that tall.

So, which outfit do y'all think I should wear this Halloween, and should I stop being a weenie about wearing heels in public and just wear the 6 1/2" heels to the movies and out to dinner and anywhere else we go (not all the time, but sometimes)?

Thanks for the advice!

========== In Reply To ========== The question 'Do you think he'll break up with me if I don't wear high heels more often like he wants me to?' kinda worries me. ...It makes it sound like you base your self image on your boyfriend's opinions of you... (Remember, If you looked so fabulous that he's still thinking about an outfit you wore one night, you are fabulous enough to do anything! :)

There's nothing wrong with dressing up for special occasions and going all out, though. It keeps things interesting! And then your boyfriend will be happy. Just take pictures on your special occasion/night out, and he can look at them anytime. Then you'll both be happy.

Don't worry TOO much about what he thinks... worry about what you think. And by the way, have you asked him to do anything that you like? Maybe you could ask him to do something that's been on your mind... like seeing him dressed up to-the-hilt for a night out, or _?

Have fun!
