Hi Flash, there wasn't any corporal punishments in our school, only detention sessions. They were always arranged on a Friday for 2 hours after school which I guess was purposely done as it took time out from part of our weekends.

It wasn't normally a teacher who would take the detention session, instead an administrator or secretary would supervise the detention. The detentions were quite traditional where for the full two hours we were disciplined with writing lines. At the end of the session the lines were given to the administrator or Secretary and she would just tear them up and put them into the bin.

I found a 2 hour detention of constantly writing out lines to be extremely tedious so I tried really hard not to get into any trouble and so avoid them. So I'd have to admit that it did what was intended and kept me on good behaviour - most of the time!
