PS I assume you are from America. If you have a look at the site www.edwardjkelly.com and perhaps email Edward Kelly, I know he would be interested in hearing your comments about what discussion takes place in America regarding Freemasons and what people's opinions of them are.

Freemasons themselves claim that they are not a religion and do not take the place of religion in a man's life. They refer to God as The Great Architect of The Universe (GAOTU) and require that members have a belief in a supreme being i.e. any god of any religion. As a person moves through the ranks of freemasonry they will be exposed to more and more "secrets". Eventually the very few who are deemed worthy (or have something to offer) will be invited to join the upper ranks. It is at this level things can become more sinister.
