I generally support the use of corporal punishment (believe in the value of it) because it is for the students’ own good and it’s also necessary to maintain "proper discipline" in schools. In my opinion, fear is what makes corporal punishment effective; if children are not punished they won't fear the teacher and won't be serious about being in school. Discipline helps them learn and now I understand it. In 1963, in my primary school, I thought I shall try to find a means of getting back. I said I shall come back to beat them. That was boyish thinking. I am now able to see the results. I am grateful for what they did to me. Now I see it as their duty to cane students. If they do not punish child in school he will be later be punished by law. You see in some countries such as Iran, Kenya and other countries, which permit corporal punishment children, are very obedient and respectful but in USA or Spain we have many spoiled and undisciplined schoolboys that easily disobey the teachers and even insult them. But you know it should be moderate and very regulated by law
