You can count yourself lucky that you don't have to wear opaques in the summer, I can tell you it is hell!

How strict is your school about this? For example, would you get sent home if you came into school with bare legs? After all, I don't think that you can tell the difference most of the time, between bare legs and sheer tan/flesh colour tights unless you look closely.

I take it you have to wear tights in the summer too. What colour/ type do they have to be, or does it not matter?

My school is really strict. We have to wear black tights. I have heard that a girl came in one year wearing barely black tights, and was told by some teacher never to wear those again - they have to be black opaque tights. I personally don't see the point, nearly all employers let you wear sheer tights or bare legs or trousers. Why are we treated like this?

Thankfully, teachers at our school aren't allowed bare legs, I think that it would be extremely unfair if they were!

Hi Paula, The uniform regulations at my school say I have to wear Black Tights. I assume I can get away with wearing stockings, as no one is going to check! However, it surely won't help that much as they have to be black. Do you wear black or natural coloured stockings? I wouldn't want to wear socks either - as you say they are for younger girls, but I can't see why bare legs or natural coloured stockings aren't allowed. ========== In Reply To ========== Hi Lauren, I'm in year 11, we can wear socks, tights, or stockings (sheer flesh-coloured). The younger girls sometimes wear socks in summer but from year 11 everyone chooses to wear tights or stockings- we wouldn't want to wear socks! I usually wear stockings as they're cooler- can you wear stockings instead of tights?

Hi I am in the Sixth Form of a strict school. All girls must wear skirts - no trousers allowed. In years 7-11 girls have the choice of wearing ankle or knee length socks or heavy black opaque tights. In the Sixth Form girls have to wear black tights. I think this is unfair. I don't mind wearing tights in the winter as they keep me warm, but in the summer they are awful.

I have to wear black tights to school at all times. In the summer this is horrible as they stick to my legs and they get really, really hot. I am in the sixth form and last year was the first year I had to wear tights, I could wear socks before the sixth form. I think this is unfair. Does anyone else have to wear tights in the summer?
