Becky798, how do you enforce the rule and how do people react to it? Also, if someone was uncomfortable going barefoot and did not want to take their shoes and socks off how would you handle that situation?

Oh okay so you never had to ask them to take off shoes and socks? They just did it when they saw the shoe rack and the basket of socks? I am curious because when I was a kid I was extremely self conscious of my feet and it was very uncomfortable for me to go barefoot around other people and when I did I felt some anxiety. I am not sure why I felt so uncomfortable because as I got older and started doing a lot of classes like yoga and barre that feeling of self consciousness and anxiety went away but it was not until when I was in college when that happened. I still do not go barefoot that much or around my family because I have severe flat feet and wear custom orthotics, but in situations where I have to go barefoot like in yoga and barre classes I am perfectly fine and no longer feel any anxiety. What I suffered from as a kid is fairly common so have you ever had a guest with a similar issue? If so how would you handle the situation? None of my childhood friends parents had a barefoot only home but if some did I think that would have helped me overcome my self consciousness and anxiety a lot sooner than I did.

Sandrabmum, out of curiosity, have you encountered anyone who was hesitant to go barefoot in your home child or adult? If so, what would you say or do to get them to take their shoes and socks off and how did they respond?

Yeah that can happen. It is a healthy addiction but still something to be careful and mindful about.
