I don't encourage my students either way. They are aged 16-19 and I think they can make the decision for themselves. I do teach one student who often leaves his shoes in his locker and spends the day barefoot. I'm not sure why he does it though.
wow that's kinda weird.
I've never thought of doing that. Some of the teenagers I teach kick their shoes off for my classes though.
There's no shame in being barefoot and it can be quite relaxing.
@R19bare I go barefoot at work quite a lot. I'm a teacher in a sixth form college and we have very relaxed dress code for staff and students. Most of the time when I'm in my classroom, my shoes are under my desk and I'm in front of the class in bare feet.
