hello brian many thanks for your reply. yes I have always regretted not mentioning my sisters mac and how I was so upset to learn it had been thrown away. I have seen the macs from john lewis but as you say they are nothing like the old gaberdines. its very good of you to mention your friends mac, however its a bottle green girls mac that I really want. yes I guess you are right about them being hard to get hold of now, I imagine that most were thrown away like my sisters mac sadly. I have read a lot of posts here about gabardine macs including green ones, I wonder if anyone here still has an old one they would be willing to sell. my interest is only girls macs and I have no interest in mens macs, to me there is something special about a girl wearing an old school mac. I would love to hear anything about girls gabardine macs including any photos. my email address is davejones00@btinternet.com. regards dave

I am very interested to read about the old style gabardine school macs here, ah happy memories. my elder sister had a green school gabardine mac double breasted with a big hood. I thought her mac was lovely but she hated it, I often used to get her mac out when no one was about and wear it buttons fastened and the hood up. how I wanted her lovely old gab mac but I never mentioned it to her or my mother, I wish I had have done as the mac was thrown out when my sister left school. I have searched everywhere for an old mac like that green one but with no luck, I would love to get hold of an old well worn girls green school mac in any size. just to hold the mac would be a dream come true. can I ask if anyone still has an old mac they would be willing to sell please. dave

hello all, i have been a lover of traditional school raincoats since i was a youngster. my first mac was a blue rubber lined cotton mackintosh with a hood, it was a girls mac handed down from an elder cousin (girl). i was given it because it was double breasted and fastened both ways, although the mac was old and well worn i absolutely adored it. after a while i had a navy blue gaberdine school mac which at first i didn't like because my love was the old rubber mac, i refused to wear the new gaberdine mac so the old mac was thrown out and i had to wear the new one. although i didn't really like my gaberdine mac i always loved the girls gaberdine macs, at the time girls used to wear macs quite a lot un like these days when you just dont see them any more sadly. i wonder if anyone here has an old gaberdine school mac (girls please) or even better an old rubber lined cotton school mac. i would love to have one of these lovely old fashioned macs, it would bring back many happy memories. regards dave.

dear caroline, how lucky you are having two rubber lined mackintoshes. i have always loved rubber lined cotton mackintoshes since my childhood, sadly all the macs that i came in contact with were all throw away by their owners. i have always wanted a girls old school mackintosh rubber lined with a hood, may i ask if you still have your old one. if you do would you be willing to sell it to me please because i would love it. or if you have any old rubber lined cotton mackintoshes you would sell, it would make my dream come true. best regards. dave. ps. you can contact me by my email address. davejones00@btinternet.com.
