When I grew up I was in shorts for most of my teens. This was because I liked wearing shorts. The most unusual part of my attire was the fact that I frequently wore denim bib shorts. These were very brief as per 1970's and most enjoyable to wear.
I remember when aged 14 I wore little blue corduroy shorts, shirt and tie to a wedding. I was very smartly dressed, so I was told. It was in July so very warm.
It was not forced on me, liked wearing shorts indeed still do. I am 61 and retired and am in shorts practically all the time. Probably even more than when I was a boy. Another wedding I wore shirt, tie and my grey flannel school shorts (I was fifteen).
I had a huge range of shorts when I grew up. My shortalls were my favourite shorts though. When I got home from school my school shorts came off and it was straight into my shortalls.
I have gone back to wearing shorter mens shorts as well obtainable from ASOS. Am now 60 and have been in shorts for the last six months.
Now I have retired, I have gone back to wearing shorts almost all the time.
